Medford Photographic Collection Treasure Hunt – March 2021

Thank you for visiting our Medford Provenance Project. This is the next phase of a twenty plus year project in which the scanned images of the Medford Historical Society are being individually scrutinized for close examination and to learn what we can about each image to make the collection more functional for users.

Take a look at the photos that impress you or interest you. Look carefully asking yourself five things: Who or What is this image of? Where is this image shot? When was this image shot? Do I know where the original of the image is housed? and finally what comments or observations can I make about this image? If you want to input on an image please send one email for each photo and make sure you include its ID on your email and any following emails. To send us your message, just click on these email link and send us your message: communications@blueandgrayeducation.org

These photos are selected from the collection of the Medford Massachusetts Historical Society & Museum. This large and significant collection was donated in to the Society in 1948 and in an exciting turn of events, rediscovered in 1990. This was the collection of Samuel Crocker Lawrence, a Civil War general, Medford’s first mayor, and generous benefactor to the city.

New photos will be posted the second week of each month.
